We hope you made it to that incredible night of performance, dance and play that was Persephone on Friday. It was a very special evening, and we might be able to post at least a few performer photos from the night (are you following us on Insta? @gemini_scorpio/@houseof_scorpio). Otherwise, as you know, what happens at HoS stays at HoS. Except...our safety precautions and door requirements often leave out bitter folks who are prone to leaving crappy reviews without understanding what we're all about. Big news for Novemeber and beyond: we are returning to our more playful events once more, so rejoice and get those memberships and approvals lined up now -- and definitely start at Taste The Rainbow to meet the community...especially since it's on a Friday this month! We'll do a more dance-y soundtrack, and might even stay open later if the vibe is right (remember that you can always order food to be delivered to the Loft). Those who are already approved will receive a special invite shortly after this email.

- This Thur 10.31 - Cute Halloween ($0, open to all) - G&S is testing out a new party idea...a Halloween with all the costumed excess treats but none of the horror tricks. Blood and gore are not for everyone! Come get cute with us. All ages, as well!

- This Fri 11.1 (note date change!) - Taste The Rainbow ($0-10, open to all) - We're excited to bring back play events, starting in November...which means you should develop those social connections with your fellow members. HoS is a community first and foremost. Join up and come to this free-to-members mixer: it makes much more sense than spending $10 for just one party, when so much more is happening this month!

- Fri 11.8 - Lip Service ($0-25, members only) - pansexual makeout party - Your next step to get to know the community, before we get down to the extra fun stuff. This one has an R rating, and some very fun games and activities. You can get approved for play events in person, ONLY at LS.

- Wed 11.13 - Bedroom Badass ($0-30, members only) - Mx Fox is back with us to teach one of their signature workshops: Tool Free Torture, with part 1 focused on things you can do with just your mouth, and part 2 focused on things you can do with just your hands. If you've ever felt like getting into k!nk meant a huge investment in dedicated tools, this is your opportunity to learn otherwise.

- Fri 11.15 - Are you approved yet (this is different than being a member)? We are hosting one of those special Saintly dancer evenings and a *brand new afterparty*, but this invite will only go out to our approved members in the next 24 hours. See the site for approval instructions, or get approved in person at Lip Service.

- Wed 11.20 - Sinema Club ($0-10, members only) - This is a special one! Dark Is The Night with talkback guest James Avalon. If you know your adult film history, you should know that he is A Big Deal as director, cinematographer and editor (see: Zazel), and he will be calling in to the club after the movie!

- Fri 11.22 - Dark DecaDance ($0-20, open to all) - we missed DDD last week because of Persephone, but it's back with all the goth anthems you love, and no membership requirement. Light kink play is ok, but there's no dungeon setup and no dedicated safety monitors.

11.13, 11.20 - Every Wednesday: House of Scorpio Clubhouse. Whatever your membership level, you are invited to use our space as your own for the night...as your clubhouse. While classes & movie nights take place in the main space, the bar and lounge remain open 7pm-11pm (12am if enough people are lounging). Just like with regular events, if you're Friend level and above, you can bring up to two friends with you. Order in dinner, have a few drinks, run a friendly board game, or just read a book on the comfy couch. This is not a mixer -- just us opening our doors for our members. It's up to you how much you socialize, if at all, and with whom. Miss Scorpio will be there herself running the bar and her vintage, designer & statement clothing boutique, so come have a drink and play dress-up.

If there's interest enough, we'll run the Clubhouse weekly, which means adding another stage-side activity on the first Wednesday of the month: kinky skill share? saucy life drawing? sassy photo sessions? What would you like to see happen? Let us know, and we'll work on setting it up.

Although rope seems like the obvious choice of bondage material to many, it is a very difficult medium for beginners to manipulate properly. We will make it easy for you by introducing basic safety and tool concepts before moving onto basic rope restraint techniques. These rope ties can be used decoratively and restrictively in a variety of positions, which can be customized to meet yours and your partners' physical abilities and personal goals.

We get asked all the time how people can join HoS if they are shy, don't have like-minded friends, lack PALs for play parties, have no idea how this whole thing works, don't feel like jumping into sexy activity but want to connect to open-minded humans, etc. This party is the answer!

Calling all LGBTQIA+, poly, kink, swinger and other "alternative" dating/sex/gender-aligned humans and their allies. The body's largest sex organ is the brain. Sinema Club stimulates yours with films that are explicitly erotic, homo-romantic, or gender-exploring -- and always thought-provoking. A rousing discussion follows; drinking is encouraged throughout, and mingling happens before, during and after: the bar remains open for socializing, while the film plays in the main space. Before taking a break for Halloween, Sinema Club's Es-Sin-tial Filmmakers Series screened ZAZEL (1997), edited by the highly talented and prolific James Avalon. This month, we return the focus on Mr Avalon with his 2022 masterwork DARK IS THE NIGHT, an ambitious and lusciously X-rated film noir he wrote, directed, shot & edited. A mysterious boarder (Seth Gamble) gets entangled with the attractive young landlord couple (Kenna James and Nathan Bronson). Questionable loyalties, unfaithful characters, and plenty of treachery are as classic here as the high-contrast, shadowy cinematography.
 
We will be joined by Mr. Avalon himself for a talkback following the screening, during which we'll discuss DARK IS THE NIGHT, ZAZEL, and a career that has spanned over 300 films and counting.
 
Sinema Club is curated and hosted by Phil Guie-Ng (@thatphilguymovies): an inquisitive, ardent longtime film critic who is dying to tell you about movies you haven't heard of yet. As a reviewer at the website Film-Forward, his self-appointed mission was covering documentaries and features about subjects who challenged conventional attitudes about gender, masculinity, and more. When Phil isn't writing about movies, you can find him in Brooklyn taking part in protests on behalf of basic human rights.
