December is a sparkly, joyous, party-filled month. We're here for you doing our part, whether you might want a *brand new flirting party* for all genders, orientations and relationship modes; a gay Christmas movie romp, or a kinky Krampus.

One last ask as we close out the year...Every membership & ticket you buy, from $5 to $55, helps this fabulous community and our Loft home exist a little bit longer. We think of each as a tiny holiday gift, and we appreciate each one. Join us, at whatever monthly level feels ok for you. Did you know you can buy your loved ones memberships as gifts, too?

- Tomorrow! Wed 12.18 - Sinema Club ($0-10, members only) - Hallmark Holigays! Popcorn and hot chocolate from us; PJs and blankets welcome from you for the ultimate holiday schmaltz fest. These days there are plenty of queer Christmas movies to choose from, so we'll vote for one on the spot -- they're really all interchangeable, aren't they. Happy endings and Christmas cheer all around, whatever your belief system. We'll even have a special guest direct from the Hallmark channel to riff on all things cheesy holiday!!!

- This Fri 12.20 - New party! MeetMarket + FemFlirt ($0-20, open to all) - Calling all singles and dating non-singles for a flirting party two-fer: FemFlirt for femme & non-binary folks on one side of the room; MeetMarket for everyone else on the other. The bar is the neutral zone. Plus: Vonka is back with her beloved Flirting For Femmes class!

- Fri 12.27 - Dark DecaDance ($0-20, open to all) - Krampus time! Holiday goth dance party with no membership requirement, bringing dark queer & ally kinksters together & inviting them into our community. Light kink play is ok, but there's no dungeon setup and no dedicated safety monitors.

- Tues 12.31 - Friends & Family NYE (TBA, open to all) - We'll send a separate email about this, but here's our feeling about this year's Big Night: it hasn't really been a year to celebrate, and 2025 will not improve things for obvious reasons. We'd love to see our beloved G&S/HoS family, but we're not really in a blowout party mood. Our plan will be to host something pared down & cozy, tho we'll still encourage dancing, makeouts & sparkly attire. Think of it as partying in your cool friend's 5k sq ft living room. As always, we have a kick-ass non-alcoholic bar, too.

We know you're not thinking about 2025 yet, but here are your key January dates:

The body's largest sex organ is the brain. Sinema Club stimulates yours with films that are explicitly erotic, homo-romantic, or gender-exploring -- and always thought-provoking. A rousing discussion follows; drinking is encouraged throughout, and mingling happens before, during and after: the bar lounge remains open for socializing, while the film plays in the main space. Plus: free popcorn from our vintage cart. Order dinner in, and make it dinner and a movie.

This month: Hallmark holigays! It's been a tough year...let's hide under the cinematic blanket of the gayest (in every sense) Christmas spirit of the Hallmark Channel, everybody's go-to for holiday schmaltz. We'll cue up a few options, warm up the hot chocolate (for real!), and pick the one movie to out-cheese them all. Both picks bring the holiday feels as well as subvert familiar Christmas-movie tropes. PJs and blankets welcome.

Option 1: FRIENDS & FAMILY CHRISTMAS (2023), which repurposes the career-obsessed single who brings the "fake" romantic partner home for holiday dinner, albeit with a lesbian protagonist and love interest this time. Naturally, neither the dinner or "fake" partner go exactly as they expect.

Option 2: THE HOLIDAY SITTER (2022), in which a lovably irresponsible gay dude gets stuck with the care of his nephew and niece due to an unexpected crisis. Will he rise to the occasion, thereby reinforcing the time-worn edict that being part of a family during the holidays means rising to the occasion?

[In case you still want Real Film, for Option 3, we will be offering a choice a little more in line with what we normally screen: François Ozon's 8 WOMEN (8 FEMMES) (2002), starring almost every famous French actress of the time. It plays with elements of the Christmas-set murder mystery, albeit with more camp and lesbianism than is typical.]
 
Sinema Club is curated and hosted by Phil Guie-Ng (@thatphilguymovies): an inquisitive, ardent longtime film critic who is dying to tell you about movies you haven't heard of yet. As a reviewer at the website Film-Forward, his self-appointed mission was covering documentaries and features about subjects who challenged conventional attitudes about gender, masculinity, and more. When Phil isn't writing about movies, you can find him in Brooklyn taking part in protests on behalf of basic human rights.

***Plus: House of Scorpio Clubhouse. Whatever your membership level, you are invited to use our space as your own for the night...as your clubhouse. While the ticketed activities will take place on the stage side of the room, the bar and lounge will remain open 7pm-11pm (12am if enough people are lounging). Just like with regular events, if you're Friend level and above, you can bring up to two friends with you. Order in dinner, have a few drinks, run a friendly board game, or just read a book on the comfy couch. This is not a mixer -- just us opening our doors for our members. It's up to you how much you socialize, if at all, and with whom.

For those of you who always ask how to meet potential partners and play PALs, finally: two flirting parties in one. We'll divide our large space in two, and run the events simultaneously.

On the dance floor & stage - FemFlirt: fem & non-binary mixer & makeout party. In the lounge - MeetMarket: pansexual flirting party. In the bar - a neutral zone for everyone to take a break from flirting. Save it for your chosen half of the room (or if you're lucky enough, both halves).

For femmes & NB folks: FemFlirt

It's been a common refrain that it's harder for women to flirt with each other, as they frequently can't tell how much flirting may be ok, who's straight and who's open, and whether a connection they may be feeling is a friendly one or one with potential chemistry to explore. And, when cis & hetero presenting, they are sometimes made to feel too straight for gay spaces, and invisible or too queer in mixed environments. The same frequently holds for GNC/NB folks, too.

This event is a small step towards diminishing pan, queer and gay femme/NB invisibility, enabling and encouraging those folks to connect romantically and physically to others like them, wherever they fall on the gender presentation spectrum.

8-9pm: bonus Flirting for Femmes class with Vonka, which includes practical exercises -- a great way to meet everyone in the room you may want to flirt with later. 9-11pm: social games and icebreakers. As the night progresses, we go from mixer to makeouts, with Spin The Bottle and other sexy games.

Who can attend: self-identifying women and GNC/NB humans who want to connect with other women and GNC/NB humans.

For everyone: MeetMarket

We put our "no cruising" rule on hold and encourage all guests to shamelessly hit on each other. An all-gender, all-orientation flirting party to help you find a partner (or two) to cozy up with in the colder months. Our PAL rule is on hold as well: come alone or bring a stranger. Wondering where to meet up with your new app match? Bring them here. Invite all your single friends. Tell your mom.

Social games and icebreakers 9-11pm to help you connect with other guests.

Who can attend: all humans who might want to flirt with and go on dates with new humans. Singles to the front, though of course we're a poly space, and dating couples are welcome as well.

DDD is a queer-forward kink-friendly goth dance celebration, inviting all participants to let go, dance and play in our luscious private loft. We embrace all genders and sexualities and levels of darkness. Consent and polite party behavior strictly enforced.

Resident DJ Shiver has been bringing the best of darkwave, goth, industrial, and post-punk sounds since 2015. Having spun at Femme Fest LA, Defcon NYC, and co-founding clubs Dolce Vita and Physical Ruins, she continues to blend both beloved classics and the best of new dark music. She also runs Wire Trap music magazine featuring the best new darkwave and post-punk music and events.

Guest DJ Kamikaze Tomato has played darkwave, goth & other dark alternatives genres while on the scene the last few years.  Despite this short time, she has been a guest DJ at About to Cry, Fright Market, No Return Post Punk Society, QXTs, Resurrection 2.0, Satanic Temple events, Sirens of Sound, Sunday Mourning and more. She currently has her own dark dance night, Sanctified, at Amityville Music Hall in Long Island. Other monthly residencies include the Flying Fox Tavern & Ian Ford's Caffeine Underground.
 
Dress code: goth, fetish, romantic, vampire, dark Lolita, neo-Victorian, steampunk, ninja warrior. Effort required / no casual wear. This month: bring your darkest Krampus 'fits!
