Hello lovelies,

It's giving Tuesday, and we know that your inbox is exploding with organizations asking for donations. Tough times are ahead, and it's clear we all need help. HoS is no different: we're here to be your safe space, your community space, your fun space, and your affordable space -- but we absolutely CANNOT do that without your support. We love our new Loft, but it's slowly killing us financially. Your memberships are the key to our survival. If 10% of this list stepped up before the end of the year at the $15/mo level, it would guarantee our continued existence in 2025, but even $5/mo makes more difference than you know. Without new sign-ups? Each month could be our last. It's frankly a miracle we're still here.

For our part, we are committed to expanding our programming for you even more in 2025. To begin with: a singles-welcome flirting party! First one is Fri Dec 20 (see below), and we'll keep it going next year if you like this idea. Next up: Countdown is back in January and throughout 2025! Then: that Saints afterparty was a fun addition, and we'll do more of that too. We also invite other like-minded groups who may want to work with us and/or in our location to reach out.

We also welcome private events of all kinds into our Loft. Ever imagined something extra special you couldn't possibly host in a bar? Talk to us, we'll make your wildest dreams happen here.

- This Thur 12.5 - Taste The Rainbow ($0-10, open to all, free for members) - We're excited to bring back play events starting in January...which means you should develop those social connections with your fellow members. HoS is a community first and foremost. Join up and come to this free-to-members mixer, and start getting to know our glittering rainbow.

- Next Fri 12.13 - Lip Service ($0-25, members only) - pansexual makeout party - Your next step to get to know the community, before we get down to the extra fun stuff. This one has an R rating, and some very fun games and activities. You can also get approved for play events in person, ONLY at LS.

- Wed 12.18 - Sinema Club ($0-10, members only) - Hallmark holigays! Popcorn and hot chocolate from us; PJs and blankets welcome from you for the ultimate holiday cheese fest. These days there are plenty of queer Christmas movies to choose from, so we'll vote for one on the spot -- they're really all interchangeable, aren't they. Happy endings and Christimas cheer all around, whatever your belief system.

- Fri 12.20 - New party! FF + MM ($0-20, members only) - Calling all singles and dating non-singles for a flirting party two-fer: FemFlirt for femme & non-binary folks on one side of the room; MeetMarket for everyone else on the other. The bar is the neutral zone. Plus: Vonka is back with her beloved Flirting For Femmes class!

- Fri 12.27 - Dark DecaDance ($0-20, open to all) - Krampus time! Holiday goth dance party with no membership requirement, bringing dark queer & ally kinksters together & inviting them into our community. Light kink play is ok, but there's no dungeon setup and no dedicated safety monitors.

We get asked all the time how people can join HoS if they are shy, don't have like-minded friends, lack PALs for play parties, have no idea how this whole thing works, don't feel like jumping into sexy activity but want to connect to open-minded humans, etc. This party is the answer!

Calling all LGBTQIA+, poly, kink, swinger and other "alternative" dating/sex/gender-aligned humans and their allies. We're creating a protected and judgment-free space for connections, conversations, community, games and interactivity. This is the key HoS event open to non-members. Come meet us before you join!

For those of you new to it all: direct introductions to HoS members new and old; facilitated discussions on poly, kink and swinger lifestyles; icebreaker games to welcome you to our club.

For our regulars: a way to ease new friends into our scene; a chance to meet all the new faces you may want to kiss later; a visit with the community even if your PAL is not around.

For everyone: tabletop and social games, both risqué and plain fun; a charming host to make the introductions and explain all things HoS and sex-positive, and a cozy setting for conversations and future kisses. Our main icebreaker game, HoS Guest Bingo, runs from 7:30pm until we have a winner: get to know everyone in the room, and win a drink if you complete your bingo card.

Miss Scorpio is back hosting the mixer! Come ask her directly anything you want to know about this community. We've been building it for you for 10+ years, and hope to be here for 10+ more.

The body's largest sex organ is the brain. Sinema Club stimulates yours with films that are explicitly erotic, homo-romantic, or gender-exploring -- and always thought-provoking. A rousing discussion follows; drinking is encouraged throughout, and mingling happens before, during and after: the bar lounge remains open for socializing, while the film plays in the main space. Plus: free popcorn from our vintage cart. Order dinner in, and make it dinner and a movie.

This month: Hallmark holigays! It's been a tough year...let's hide under the cinematic blanket of the gayest (in every sense) Christmas spirit of the Hallmark Channel, everybody's go-to for holiday schmaltz. We'll cue up a few options, warm up the hot chocolate (for real!), and pick the one movie to out-cheese them all. Both picks bring the holiday feels as well as subvert familiar Christmas-movie tropes. PJs and blankets welcome.

Option 1: FRIENDS & FAMILY CHRISTMAS (2023), which repurposes the career-obsessed single who brings the "fake" romantic partner home for holiday dinner, albeit with a lesbian protagonist and love interest this time. Naturally, neither the dinner or "fake" partner go exactly as they expect.

Option 2: THE HOLIDAY SITTER (2022), in which a lovably irresponsible gay dude gets stuck with the care of his nephew and niece due to an unexpected crisis. Will he rise to the occasion, thereby reinforcing the time-worn edict that being part of a family during the holidays means rising to the occasion?

[In case you still want Real Film, for Option 3, we will be offering a choice a little more in line with what we normally screen: François Ozon's 8 WOMEN (8 FEMMES) (2002), starring almost every famous French actress of the time. It plays with elements of the Christmas-set murder mystery, albeit with more camp and lesbianism than is typical.]
 
Sinema Club is curated and hosted by Phil Guie-Ng (@thatphilguymovies): an inquisitive, ardent longtime film critic who is dying to tell you about movies you haven't heard of yet. As a reviewer at the website Film-Forward, his self-appointed mission was covering documentaries and features about subjects who challenged conventional attitudes about gender, masculinity, and more. When Phil isn't writing about movies, you can find him in Brooklyn taking part in protests on behalf of basic human rights.

***Plus: House of Scorpio Clubhouse. Whatever your membership level, you are invited to use our space as your own for the night...as your clubhouse. While the ticketed activities will take place on the stage side of the room, the bar and lounge will remain open 7pm-11pm (12am if enough people are lounging). Just like with regular events, if you're Friend level and above, you can bring up to two friends with you. Order in dinner, have a few drinks, run a friendly board game, or just read a book on the comfy couch. This is not a mixer -- just us opening our doors for our members. It's up to you how much you socialize, if at all, and with whom.

For those of you who always ask how to meet potential partners and play PALs, finally: two flirting parties in one. We'll divide our large space in two, and run the events simultaneously.

On the dance floor & stage - FemFlirt: fem & non-binary mixer & makeout party. In the lounge - MeetMarket: pansexual flirting party. In the bar - a neutral zone for everyone to take a break from flirting. Save it for your chosen half of the room (or if you're lucky enough, both halves).

For femmes & NB folks: FemFlirt

It's been a common refrain that it's harder for women to flirt with each other, as they frequently can't tell how much flirting may be ok, who's straight and who's open, and whether a connection they may be feeling is a friendly one or one with potential chemistry to explore. And, when cis & hetero presenting, they are sometimes made to feel too straight for gay spaces, and invisible or too queer in mixed environments. The same frequently holds for GNC/NB folks, too.

This event is a small step towards diminishing pan, queer and gay femme/NB invisibility, enabling and encouraging those folks to connect romantically and physically to others like them, wherever they fall on the gender presentation spectrum.

8-9pm: bonus Flirting for Femmes class with Vonka, which includes practical exercises -- a great way to meet everyone in the room you may want to flirt with later. 9-11pm: social games and icebreakers. As the night progresses, we go from mixer to makeouts, with Spin The Bottle and other sexy games.

Who can attend: self-identifying women and GNC/NB humans who want to connect with other women and GNC/NB humans.

For everyone: MeetMarket

We put our "no cruising" rule on hold and encourage all guests to shamelessly hit on each other. An all-gender, all-orientation flirting party to help you find a partner (or two) to cozy up with in the colder months. Our PAL rule is on hold as well: come alone or bring a stranger. Resident DJ Shiver has been bringing the best of darkwave, goth, industrial, and post-punk sounds since 2015. Having spun at Femme Fest LA, Defcon NYC, and co-founding clubs Dolce Vita and Physical Ruins, she continues to blend both beloved classics and the best of new dark music. She also runs Wire Trap music magazine featuring the best new darkwave and post-punk music and events.

Guest DJ Kamikaze Tomato has played darkwave, goth & other dark alternatives genres while on the scene the last few years.  Despite this short time, she has been a guest DJ at About to Cry, Fright Market, No Return Post Punk Society, QXTs, Resurrection 2.0, Satanic Temple events, Sirens of Sound, Sunday Mourning and more. She currently has her own dark dance night, Sanctified, at Amityville Music Hall in Long Island. Other monthly residencies include the Flying Fox Tavern & Ian Ford's Caffeine Underground.
 
Dress code: goth, fetish, romantic, vampire, dark Lolita, neo-Victorian, steampunk, ninja warrior. Effort required / no casual wear. This month: bring your darkest Krampus 'fits!
