Hey folks

Miss Scorpio here, reaching out as one solo human feeling crushed by what we're facing...but also as a human leading a community I feel both a protective responsibility towards as some of the most at-risk people under the coming rule, and a community that has members privileged enough to be able to organize, donate and protest on the front lines.

I don't have a plan yet. But I know we made it through 2016-2020, and I know big fights are coming. I do know that it feels more important to me than ever that this community survive and be a source of joy and support to as many as it can reach.

I create events to celebrate a particular way of existing for people who are normally on the margins. I believe we should be able to be what we are without pressure to "pass" by conforming to the majority norms, to exist with joy and without fear. I file us all under one giant "queer" banner, because that's the word used to other us, to mark us as weird, to push us underground, to force us to pass or perish.

And I believe the act of queer joy is one of resistance. I will do what I can to keep this community here for just that, and I invite you all to join me. Behind the scenes, we will be collecting resources and making action plans (please send us info!), but in the meantime, reach for joy. It is in short supply.

We have our usual monthly makeout party scheduled for tomorrow, and then a st!rp performance pop-up next Fri followed by a play party. These are three different expressions of loud queer joy. If you can afford to buy tickets, please do -- this year has been impossibly hard, and we're on the brink of extinction even without this outside threat -- but I also created a FREE ticket option for tomorrow for all levels of membership; just log in to find it. We all need a safe space right now, and as long as we still have it, our physical location is large enough to make room for joy AND grief AND conversation AND resistance plans.

This community and this physical space need to be here for what is coming. We will be joining the fight in whatever ways we can.
