9.11, 9.18, 9.25 - Every Wednesday: House of Scorpio Clubhouse. Whatever your membership level, you are invited to use our space as your own for the night...as your clubhouse. While classes & movie nights take place in the main space, the bar and lounge remain open 7pm-11pm (12am if enough people are lounging). Just like with regular events, if you're Friend level and above, you can bring up to two friends with you. Order in dinner, have a few drinks, run a friendly board game, or just read a book on the comfy couch. This is not a mixer -- just us opening our doors for our members. It's up to you how much you socialize, if at all, and with whom. Miss Scorpio will be there herself running the bar and her vintage, designer & statement clothing boutique, so come have a drink and play dress-up.

If there's interest enough, we'll run the Clubhouse weekly, which means adding another stage-side activity on the first Wednesday of the month: kinky skill share? saucy life drawing? sassy photo sessions? What would you like to see happen? Let us know, and we'll work on setting it up.

The body's largest sex organ is the brain. Sinema Club stimulates yours with films that are explicitly erotic, homo-romantic, or gender-exploring -- and always thought-provoking. A rousing discussion follows; drinking is encouraged throughout, and mingling happens before, during and after: the bar remains open for socializing, while the film plays in the main space. Plus: free popcorn from our vintage cart. Order dinner in, and make it dinner and a movie.
 
This months screening: 90s nouveau adult cinema classic, Zazel: The Scent of Love (1997).

It isn’t often that you hear of an adult movie being compared with fine art, but that’s a compliment Zazel has received over and over. It was directed by Philip Mond, whose fashion photography background is a clear influence here (he also did the camera work and designed the costumes and special make-up). The film is famous for its visually elaborate set pieces; extravagant costuming, make-up and body painting; and expensive filming techniques, such as underwater photography.

The plot of Zazel revolves around the titular perfumier as she attempts to craft "the most sensually arousing fragrance ever", but the real stars are the veteran adult film stars and Penthouse models (Sasha Vinni, Gina LaMarca, Nikie St. Gilles) playing mystical creatures who enjoy all kinds of revelry, and Mond’s skilled eye.

Our screening of Zazel: The Scent of Love will be followed by a talkback with James Avalon, who edited the film as well as directed more than 370 credits over the course of his career. Avalon won the 1998 Best Editing AVN award for Zazel (the film also won six other awards, including Best Film). [Heads up: James is calling from an event out West where he might have limited signal...we'll do out best!]

Sinema Club is curated and hosted by Phil Guie-Ng (@thatphilguymovies): an inquisitive, ardent longtime film critic who is dying to tell you about movies you haven't heard of yet. As a reviewer at the website Film-Forward, his self-appointed mission was covering documentaries and features about subjects who challenged conventional attitudes about gender, masculinity, and more. When Phil isn't writing about movies, you can find him in Brooklyn taking part in protests on behalf of basic human rights.

Although rope seems like the obvious choice of bondage medium to many, it is a very difficult medium for beginners to manipulate properly. This course will begin by introducing basic safety and tool concepts, before moving onto basic rope restraint techniques. These rope ties can be used decoratively and restrictively in a variety of positions, which can be customized to meet yours and your partners' physical abilities and sexual goals.

All BB classes are a mixture of lecture, hands-on experience, and dedicated Q&A time. After class, stay for dedicated practice & play time to help you solidify your skills, while our teacher remains available for guidance. Class and practice are in the main space, while the bar lounge is open 7pm-12am if you want to arrive early or leave late -- or just need a break. Always BYO practice items, where relevant, though we will always have a selection on hand.

Our teacher: Lady Euphoria Sol is a Transformational Lifestyle & Professional Dominatrix, BDSM Educator, Coach and Ritualist. Her work centers inner exploration, shadow work and energetics in pursuit of Euphoria. She is most recently known for her role as former founding headmistress and curator of 7 Days of Domination, a quarterly week-long series of educational kink talks from worldwide BDSM experts.

Bedroom Badass is our series of workshops to take couples and individuals through various steps in opening up their relationships, or in exploring more adventurous sexual experiences. Whether you're a total novice or an old pro, each class has a range of information relevant to all experience levels.

She also runs Wire Trap music magazine featuring the best new darkwave and post-punk music and events.

Guest DJ: DJ Kangal has played darkwave/goth/industrial for over 25 years. Hailing from Washington DC, where he held residencies at the Black Cat, DC9, Nation, and the Roxy, he now calls the NY area home (residencies: ABOUT TO CRY and A MURDER OF CROWS festival). He's also a regular guest at the Red Party at Mercury Lounge (NYC), QXT's Nightclub (Newark, NJ), and Defcon at Parkside Lounge (NYC). Further afield he recently featured at WCKD WKND Festival 2023 (Raleigh, NC), The Milestone (Charlotte, NC) and at the Albany (London, UK). Between live gigs you can find him bringing the Dark Disco and Goth/Industrial party 2 nights a week on Twitch at www.twitch.tv/djkangal
