It's Pride time! We have a bursting calendar, and we're kicking off a desperately-needed member drive. One year into a major venue buildout, we need you more than ever, and we hope you want to see us continue to exist. We really *really* cannot do this without you. There are no deep pockets, investors or grants here. Please don't wait until we're at risk of going away...that possibility is always closer than you think.

As thanks, anyone who signs up for a membership in June will get their 6th month (Nov) FREE, as well as $15 tickets to all classes and FREE movie nights every month until then. Our goal is to sign up 100 new members at any level. Can you help us hit the goal for as little as a cup of coffee each month?

We have been working hard to set up a full month of QUEER JOY for you. As always, full details on each of the upcoming events are below these summaries, including all rules & requirements for attendance. Get your membership and your tickets, and we will see you here soon.

- Thur 6.6 - Taste The Rainbow ($0-10, open to non-members) - Pride month kick-off mixer! You know this one always pops off. Pride month is the right time to embrace a wider understanding of your own, your partners' and your friends' gender, orientation and sexuality. This wider understanding and the growth of this community is the core of why we're here. Special feature this month: Miss Scorpio will be here to give you a Pride fashion preview of her racks as we get ready for...

- Sat 6.8 (day) - Brooklyn Pride ($FREE, open to non-members) - We loved doing this last year: G&S/HoS will have their own setup again at Brooklyn Pride on 5th Ave in Park Slope! Expect an all-gender festival & partywear clothing pop-up, plus a rainbow selfie photo booth. Please let us know if you may want to volunteer to hang with us a bit (we'll have drinks & snacks for everyone who does this). It's also a great time to chat to us about events you may want to see us host, or your own events you may want to see happen here.

- Sat 6.8 (eve) - Dynasty Dance ($FREE, open to non-members) - a Dynasty-themed retro dance party blowout! Break out those sequins and shake your booty to best of 80s 90s Y2K pop & dance. You can RSVP via the membership portal -- it helps us get an idea of how many people will attend, so we can plan the event better.

- Wed 6.12 - Bedroom Badass w Fox ($0-30, members only) + HoS Clubhouse (FREE or $5 to join as member) - Topic: How to turn awkward into sexy. You know you've all been there: a toy you need is across the room...you have a sudden itch...you just don't know what to say next. This class will help you figure out how to turn the most potentially awkward moments into a part of your scene.

- Fri 6.14 - Lip Service ($0-25, members only) - pansexual makeout party - the saucy & sassy R-rated event you know and love. Pride should make this an extra good one. Did all members remember to pick up their special LS passes for the year? You can do so at the door of any HoS event.

- Wed 6.19 - Sinema Club ($0-10, members only) - our film club exploring gender, orientation and sexuality on the big screen. Since it's Pride *and* Juneteenth, we're focusing on queer black filmmakers. Main feature: The Watermelon Woman.

- Fri 6.21 - FemFlirt - ($0-25, open to non-members) - we're not doing the flirting class for this one, but the social, flirting & make-out party is very much on. Free drink with each over-$15 ticket!

- Fri 6.28 - Dark DecaDance ($0-15, open to non-members) - queer-forward goth party. This month features a special short set by queer musician Max Fractal (FKA Kim Boekbinder). For Dark Decadence, Max Fractal will bring deep beats for dark places.

- Sat 6.29 - Renegade Pride! This year's blowout features a special short set by queer musician Max Fractal (FKA Kim Boekbinder). For Renegade Pride, Max Fractal will illuminate the night with the bright sounds of queer utopian futures.

5.22, 6.12, 6.19, 6.26 - we're moving our classes and movie nights to Wednesdays, and testing a new idea: House of Scorpio Clubhouse. Whatever your membership level, you are invited to use our space as your own for the night...as your clubhouse. While the ticketed activities will take place in the main space, the bar and lounge will remain open 7pm-11pm (12am if enough people are lounging). Just like with regular events, if you're Friend level and above, you can bring up to two friends with you. Order in dinner, have a few drinks, run a friendly board game, or just read a book on the comfy couch. This is not a mixer -- just us opening our doors for our members. It's up to you how much you socialize, if at all, and with whom. Miss Scorpio will be there herself running the bar and her vintage, designer & statement clothing boutique, so come have a drink and play dress-up.

If there's interest enough, we'll run the Clubhouse weekly, which means adding another stage-side activity on the first Wednesday of the month: kinky skill share? saucy life drawing? sassy photo sessions? What would you like to see happen? Let us know, and we'll work on setting it up.

We get asked all the time how people can join HoS if they are shy, don't have like-minded friends, lack PALs for play parties, have no idea how this whole thing works, don't feel like jumping into sexy activity but want to connect to open-minded humans, etc. This party is the answer!

Calling all LGBTQIA+, poly, kink, swinger and other "alternative" dating/sex/gender-aligned humans and their allies. We're creating a protected and judgment-free space for connections, conversations, community, games and interactivity. This is the key HoS event open to non-members. Come meet us before you join!

For those of you new to it all: direct introductions to HoS members new and old; facilitated discussions on poly, kink and swinger lifestyles; icebreaker games to welcome you to our club.

For our regulars: a way to ease new friends into our scene; a chance to meet all the new faces you may want to kiss later; a visit with the community even if your PAL is not around.

For everyone: tabletop and social games, both risqué and plain fun; a charming host to make the introductions and explain all things HoS and sex-positive, and a cozy setting for conversations and future kisses. Our main icebreaker game, HoS Guest Bingo, runs from 7:30pm until we have a winner: get to know everyone in the room, and win a drink if you complete your bingo card.

We have one more special experience for you this month: a chance to test a brand new music sensation toy and talk to the creators. Have you ever tried to turn music into touch? Come feel what it can be like.

Plus: Brooklyn Pride fashion preview. We're hosting a booth at BK Pride on Sat, June 8, and as part of the setup will be selling the most colorful Pride-ready party wear. You can be among the first to browse the racks and snag the deals before the public.

Have you ever run into an unavoidable awkward pause when playing with someone? Maybe it's because of a loss for words, or you have to remember how to tie a knot, or to retrieve an item from across the room. In this class we will cover how to maintain connection through interruptions, and work these external moments into the scene to keep sexy vibes flowing.

Some topics to be covered:
- How to use check-ins without breaking character
- How to have mid-scene negotiations in a safe and sexy way
- Creative ways to keep the scene going when you have to walk away
- Using breath, eye contact and touch to keep flow going in a pause
- Cultivating excitement in a scene direction shift

All BB classes are a mixture of lecture, hands-on experience, and dedicated Q&A time. After class, stay for dedicated practice & play time to help you solidify your skills, while our teacher remains available for guidance. Class and practice are in the main space, while the bar lounge is open 7pm-11pm if you want to arrive early or leave late -- or just need a break. Always BYO practice items, where relevant, though we will always have a selection on hand.

Our teacher: Mx Fox is a femme domme, kink educator and relationship & intimacy coach who has been in the scene since 2016. Fox loves to work with folks of all levels to help them feel excited to express themselves shamelessly, and of course to have hotter, safer and sexier relationships.

Bedroom Badass is our series of workshops to take couples and individuals through various steps in opening up their relationships, or in exploring more adventurous sexual experiences. Whether you're a total novice or an old pro, each class has a range of information relevant to all experience levels.

The body's largest sex organ is the brain. Sinema Club stimulates yours with films that are explicitly erotic, homo-romantic, or gender-exploring -- and always thought-provoking. A rousing discussion follows; drinking is encouraged throughout, and mingling happens before, during and after: the bar remains open for socializing, while the film plays in the main space. Plus: free popcorn from our vintage cart. Order dinner in, and make it dinner and a movie.

This months screening: with this month's club falling on Juneteenth, we're focusing on queer black filmmakers. The main feature is the seminal lesbian romance movie The Watermelon Woman (1996).

The wry, incisive debut feature by Cheryl Dunye gave cinema something bracingly new and groundbreaking: a vibrant representation of Black lesbian identity by a Black lesbian filmmaker. Dunye stars as Cheryl, a video-store clerk and aspiring director whose interest in forgotten Black actresses leads her to investigate an obscure 1930s performer known as the Watermelon Woman, whose story proves to have surprising resonances with Cheryl’s own life as she navigates a new relationship with a white girlfriend (Guinevere Turner). Balancing breezy romantic comedy with a serious inquiry into the history of Black and queer women in Hollywood, The Watermelon Woman slyly rewrites long-standing constructions of race and sexuality on-screen, introducing an important voice in American cinema.

We're working on a special secondary feature and lining up panel guests -- this should be a really good one!

Sinema Club is curated and hosted by Phil Guie-Ng (@thatphilguymovies): an inquisitive, ardent longtime film critic who is dying to tell you about movies you haven't heard of yet. As a reviewer at the website Film-Forward, his self-appointed mission was covering documentaries and features about subjects who challenged conventional attitudes about gender, masculinity, and more. When Phil isn't writing about movies, you can find him in Brooklyn taking part in protests on behalf of basic human rights.

It's been a common refrain that it's harder for women to flirt with each other, as they frequently can't tell how much flirting may be ok, who's straight and who's open, and whether a connection they may be feeling is a friendly one or one with potential chemistry to explore. And, when cis & hetero presenting, they are sometimes made to feel too straight for gay spaces, and invisible or too queer in mixed environments. The same frequently holds for GNC/NB folks, too.

This event is a small step towards diminishing pan, queer and gay femme/NB invisibility, enabling and encouraging those folks to connect romantically and physically to others like them, wherever they fall on the gender presentation spectrum. We hope to be a place of empowerment and support for your exploration, even if you're just starting out or are unsure about your orientation. Explore and push your boundaries in a safe space, while enjoying our lush intimate Loft and delicious cocktails.

We will start the event with social games and introductions to make everyone feel welcome. As the night progresses, we go from mixer to makeouts, with Spin The Bottle and other sexier games.

Dress code: dress in whatever makes you feel sexy, however feminine or masculine you feel. We won't enforce the dress code as strictly as at Lip Service, but we respectfully ask for no casual attire. You're coming to flirt!

Who can attend: self-identifying women and GNC/NB humans who want to connect with other women and GNC/NB humans. While HoS events are usually more pan-gendered and pan-sexual, we're going to keep this one as a safe space without cis men. Important: HoS is a TERF-free zone!
